Nuts/Washers of Whittet-Higgins Origin

Precision ISO metric threads in Series KML, KMM, and KMS are manufactured to Class 4H. Precision bearing threads in Series NH, NL, NS, and NT are manufactured to National Standard Class 3. Unified threads in Series NI are manufactured to Class 3B.

Series Name Description
KML Retaining Nut Retaining nuts made with left-hand threads to resist rotational forces from the counter clockwise direction. Same configuration as the KM.
KMM Retaining Nut Retaining nuts of same configuration as the KM, but of hardened alloy steel. As good a load carrying capacity as KMH, but better interchangeability.
KMS Retaining Nut Retaining nuts made of stainless steel to resist corrosive environments. Same configuration as the KM retaining nuts.
MBA Lockwasher Lockwasher for use with the KMM series retaining nuts.
MBS Lockwasher Lockwasher made of stainless steel for use with the KMS series retaining nuts.
NH Retaining Nut Retaining nuts with greater thread width and thicker lockwashers for heavier load roller bearings and more stressful applications. More precise and fully substitutable for the TN-TW series. Runout of faces is held to .002 inch on all sizes.
NI Retaining Nut Heavy section retaining nuts for inch-dimensioned assemblies with 16 TPI where bearings or other components have inch dimensioned bores.
NL Retaining Nut Retaining nuts made with left-hand threads to resist rotational forces from the counter clockwise direction. Same configuration as the N-AN.
NS Retaining Nut Retaining nuts made of stainless steel to resist corrosive environments. Same configuration as the N-AN retaining nuts.
NT Retaining Nut Thinner, lighter section retaining nuts for use with extra light ball bearings and smaller assemblies of lighter weight and limited space. They are 50% to 75% of the N-AN series sections.
WH Lockwasher Thicker, heavier lockwasher for use with the NH series retaining nuts.
WI Lockwasher Lockwasher for use with the NI series retaining nuts.
WS Lockwasher Lockwasher made of stainless steel for use with the NS series retaining nuts.
WT Lockwasher Thinner, lighter lockwasher for use with the NT series retaining nuts.
