A HERITAGE  OF

SUPER PRECISION

Established in 1914 by Mr. Henry Whittet and Mr. John Higgins in the basement of the mill on 27 Congress Avenue in Providence Rhode Island, the Whittet-Higgins Manufacturing Company started as a local contract manufacturer of super-precision bearing retaining components and machined parts for Johnson Universal Automatics of Cranston, the Taft-Pierce Company of Woonsocket, and the Brown & Sharpe Company of Providence Rhode Island.

In 1967, the Whittet-Higgins Manufacturing Company was sold to a young mechanical engineer who saw a company that could further address the market need for higher precision bearing products for the faster and more advanced industrial machinery and equipment that was being engineered and built. In 1969, the Whittet-Higgins Manufacturing Company moved from Congress Avenue in Providence to its current location at 33 Higginson Avenue in Central Falls Rhode Island. With the move and the additional manufacturing space, Whittet-Higgins was able to invest in the most advanced National-Acme multiple spindle turning systems, and focus its efforts on expanding its product offering and create a full line of precision bearing accessories, including a full line of locknuts and lockwashers.

Since its moving to Central Falls, Whittet-Higgins has added several additional advanced manufacturing facilities. The initial product line of sixty-six (66) precision locknuts and lockwashers has been expanded to over forty-three hundred (4,300) super precision products to serve our customers need for more advanced bearing products. The original spindle turning systems have been replaced by super precision custom robotic CNC manufacturing systems manufactured in Japan.

Today, the Whittet-Higgins Manufacturing Company remains family owned and operated, and is still committed to engineering and manufacturing the largest array of application specific bearing accessories for the most advanced and demanding applications.

If you have an application and you need technical and engineering support or simply some guidance, our staff of engineers are always available to help and assist.
